Undergraduate Certificate

Segal Design Certificate

Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering 6 courses

About This Program

This certificate program, administered by the Segal Design Institute, develops a set of design and problem-solving skills that prove valuable in a wide range of careers. The program focuses on applying user-centered design to address real-world problems in team-based, interdisciplinary settings. Smaller in scope than majors or minors, certificates usually are offered in areas of concentration for which no major or minor exists and are comprised of at least 4 units of coursework uniquely counted, not also applied to any other academic plan or credential. Such coursework may fulfill other degree requirements such as distribution or required electives. Certificates are conferred concurrent with the student's undergraduate degree. They do not appear on the diploma, but are noted on the transcript.
