VS Studio: Research Methodologies

Temple University 3 credits VS

Course Description

This interdisciplinary studio seminar course, Research Methodologies, prepares students for their thesis projects and should be taken one semester before the capstone Senior Thesis course. We begin by asking, how do creative practitioners perform research and how do they employ research in their work? Presentations on the work of relevant creative practitioners and scholars will be explored as case studies. The class supports the development of a student's individual creative practice through the collection and formalization of a body of independent research. Their interdisciplinary research will become the basis of the Senior Thesis coursework project and written statement. Prior to Fall 2024, this course was titled "VS Seminar: Narratives."
