To fulfill the MA requirements, students must complete a culminating project. This can take one of two forms: either a scholarly thesis of modest length (30-50 pages), or a critically-informed performance project of modest duration (no more than an hour), accompanied by a 20-30 page written explanation of the work. Students will determine the format of the project in consultation with their major advisor. Thesis papers and performance projects must be seen/read and approved by the major advisor (or thesis director, if different) and one other faculty member, who may come from outside the department. This may be repeated for credit if a student desires to take this course over more than one semester.
