Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an introduction to the fundamental principles of genetics, especially in terms of their application to the study of behavior. Using this natural-science perspective, we will examine how genetic variables influence behavior of both humans and nonhumans, and how these variables interact with environmental factors. We will discuss the basic principles of Mendelian and molecular genetics, how these principles are studied in the laboratory and what they mean for behavior in the real world. At all times, we will evaluate the material from a rigorous scientific perspective. This course is dual-listed with PSY 441.
