University at Buffalo 3 credits Psychology

Course Description

This course lays down the practical foundations for enabling students to perform analyses that are commonly used in cognitive neuroscience studies with humans. Students will learn how to program in Python and carry out basic analysis of behavioral, eye tracking, ERP, and fMRI data. This will be a hands-on course with weekly assignments that will require students to write Python code to handle, manipulate, and organize different data structures in ways that will enable them to solve different analysis tasks. For example, students will learn to compute an ERP, identify positive and negative peaks, and assess statistical significance across experiment conditions and/or subject groups. At the end of the course students will be able to analyze data and perform basic data science tasks independently. Pre-Requisite: 45 cr. completed and PSY 101.
