MGS 687

Experiential IT Projects

University at Buffalo 3 credits Management Science and Systems

Course Description

This course is designed to provide an opportunity for students to apply the skills they have acquired as part of their graduate coursework while developing solutions or prototypes to a realistic problem in a corporate setting. As part of this course, a group of 4 to 5 students will be provided with a precisely defined problem statement faced by a local company. Over the course of a semester, the student teams are expected to come up with multiple competing solutions, evaluate alternatives and present the chosen solution to a panel of subject matter experts. Subsequently, they are expected to implement a version of a product with just enough features to satisfy early customers and provide feedback for future product development called the `minimum viable product¿ (MVP). Students will receive mentorship from leading professionals throughout the course.
