Temple University 3 credits JRN
The global climate is changing, ice caps are melting, forests are burning, and vulnerable species (including humans) are in harm's way. But when the national government takes severe actions to undo federal environmental policy, what's a journalist to do? This course teaches students how to translate science to the public and explores how thoughtful reporting on our environment can counterbalance the horrors of a planet on the brink. Students will meet with numerous working journalists and scientists, take field trips across the city, and have opportunities to obtain professional bylines. Note: Prior to Fall 2026, this course was titled "Health and Environmental Writing."
