Computational Fluid Dynamics

University of South Florida 3 credits EML

Course Description

This course will introduce the governing equations of fluid dynamics and heat transfer. We will introduce the finite difference method (FDM) to solve these partial differential equations numerically from scratch, including the basics of time and space discretization schemes, direct and iterative solution techniques for the discrete linear equation systems, and basic concepts of convergence and stability. Students will also learn how to use commercial CFD software to solve practical problems in the field of fluid dynamics and heat transfer, including geometry preparation, mesh generation, boundary conditions, visualization, and validation. Prerequisite: none Corequisite: none USF Engineering | Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Credit Hours: 3
