About This Program

Clinical chemistry is the practice of pathology devoted primarily to the use of biochemical and molecular techniques in the laboratory diagnosis and management of human disease. In the Bachelor of Science in clinical chemistry, you explore the division of pathology and medical laboratory sciences, focusing on the quantitative testing of compounds, referred to as markers, in bodily fluids and tissues using analytical techniques and specialized instruments. These instruments, often specialized for automation, provide different results that help identify clinical analytes such as enzymes, electrolytes and their concentrations, all of which are important for diagnosing diseases. The interdisciplinary field prepares you with knowledge from chemistry, biology, data analysis and the applied form of biochemistry.
