Grand Canyon University The College of Natural Sciences 23 courses 120 total credits
This program is offered by the College of College of Natural Sciences in conjunction with the College of Education for students who are preparing for a teaching career in grades K-12, and who are seeking initial teacher licensure. The format and courses of this regionally accredited and Arizona approved program are designed to maximize the content knowledge that the teacher candidate will possess upon graduation. All courses are directly aligned with Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) principles. Content courses are aligned to the national standards for Physical Education Teacher (PETE) as established by SHAPE America, the national organization for Physical Education. Opportunities are provided to apply concepts, theories, and research throughout the program. Applicants to the program are responsible for contacting their desired state's department of education for licensure requirements and program approval. Arizona fingerprint/background clearance is required for all practicum/field experiences and student teaching. Furthermore, applicants should consult the University Policy Handbook and a Student Service Advisor (SSA) to obtain information regarding current policies and procedures inherent in a teacher licensure program.
