Bachelor's

Art Theory and Practice Major

Northwestern University Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences 9 courses

About This Program

Students majoring in art theory and practice plan a program of study with and subject to the approval of a department adviser. Double-counting note: Weinberg College prohibits double-counting a major course toward some other major or minor, except where this is explicitly permitted in this catalog. Weinberg College does allow double-counting a major course toward a general bachelor's degree requirement (i.e. degree requirements other than majors or minors). Other programs or schools may have their own restrictions that supersede this, so check the relevant parts of this catalog for possible limits. All senior majors enroll in ART 360-0 Senior Critique and produce a final exhibition or project. The departmentโ€™s honors committee reviews all final projects, considering innovation, creativity, scope and ambition, and realization and presentation. Students whose projects and overall records meet department criteria are recommended to the college for graduation with departmental honors. For more information consult the department adviser and see Honors in the Major.
